If you are looking for a truly, real (!) Belgian experience, and a really funny one on top of it, then the In’t Spinnekopke is your answer. A restaurant located in the center of Brussels, it exudes Belgian atmosphere and the food is all about Belgian beer.We went there last night, by random chance. Once in, our waiter was a cross between a stand up comedian and a skilled waiter. It seems our French didn’t convince him, so the conversation continued in English.
The menus are huge (and I mean that in the literally sense, they are actually very broad and very big). Being in a restaurant which specializes on beer cuisine, we made the most out of it. As a starter we ordered Coquilles St-Jacques à la Trappiste de Rochefort (a sauce made out of Rochefort beer with cream) and then I continued with the suggestion of the day, pheasant. Delightful.
Unfortunately there was no room for dessert anymore, but I think next time I will try the sorbet a la Maredsous – which can at least be surprising.
