If you haven’t been, then go. Cagliari. A wonderful spot in the south: sun, blue sky, a perfect beach and blue sea. 4 days of total bliss where all we did was sunbathe, swim, eat great food, drink local white wines, and stroll through the streets of Cagliari. If like us you are in need to ‘switch off’, then Cagliari is definitely worth a try. Don’t expect hoards of tourists, or an incredibly busy cultural experience. Life has a different pace in Cagliari. But you will come back having soaked in the sun and the sea, rested, happy, smiling. Here is a taster, just in case.
Our addresses in Cagliari/ Sardinia:
Hotel Calamosca – not the hotel to go for if you are looking for a designer feel. However, if you are looking for a decent room, friendly staff, view over the sea and a private beach, then you’re at the right address. A little dated, yes, but really, how many hours does one spend in their hotel room? By bus the hotel is 10min away from Cagliari center.
Ristorante Al Porto – Via Sardegna 44, 09124 Cagliari. Great seafood. So simple, yet so delicious. Give the grilled cuttlefish a try.
Ristorante da Fabio – Via Concezione 25/ Via Sardegna 90, 09124 Cagliari. Absolutely great, down to earth Sardinian food. Do not be surprised if your orders get mixed up at first. Part of the charm.
Caffe Libarium – Via Santa Croce 33, 09124 Cagliari. For that little sophistication every girl needs on a holiday. Cocktails and antipasti.
Durke – I kid you not, the best cookies we ever tried. Plus, when you enter the shop it feels like you walked into a cloud of cinnamon and almonds. The smell only and it is impossible to walk passed Durke.
