A while back I was invited to a bloggers lunch at Manhattn’s Burger. Blogs and instagram feeds were praising this Brussels burger restaurant left and right, so I decided it was high time for me to get on the burger bandwagon as well.
On a rainy Brussels day I pushed open the doors of Manhattn’s Burger in the centre of town. Located in a beautiful old building, the restaurant inside is anything but old. Decorated to remind an American style diner, the two owners however – brothers Jerry and Phil Vandermeulen – kept the original bricks and copper piping, which gives the place a very appealing industrial feel.
The restaurant is very much what it says on the label – a burger bar. The menu offers a burger for everyone beef lovers, chicken lovers, vegetarians and the burger names nod to the great American classics. Staying true to my passions, I ordered the Gatsby burger with a side of fries and the house sauce. The service was quick and despite my initial impressions that Manhattn’s Burger is more an upper fast food restaurant, I must admit the meat was cooked to order and the whole lunch very tasty.
So the million dollar questions (channeling the USA here) is: did I like Manhattn’s Burger? Yes. I probably would have liked it even better if I were 15 years younger … but that is besides the point. The restaurant was buzzing not only because of the perfect location. The food was decent. And the location is perfect for teenagers going out, youth eating a pre-gig dinner, families going to the movies next door… or indeed hungry me at lunch time.
I would like to extend our thanks to Manhattn’s Burger Bar for inviting us to discover their food and dealing with our endless questions and cameras with grace. Disclaimer: as always, all opinions written are our own.
