In the countdown to Christmas (I swear it was March just yesterday!) we want to share with you one more favourite local restaurant – Pin Pon. We have been regulars since the day it opened and granted it took us a while to make the name ‘connection’ … but besides language ‘issues’, it’s been our local hang out ever since.
What do Downtown Abbey, James Bond and The Apprentice all have in common? You guessed it. Gin! Gin is THE drink of the moment. Everyone I know, everyone you know, is drinking variations with gin. This global trend has not gone unnoticed in Belgium either. Brussels has its own gin centric bar. 43% of Belgians* own over 10 different types of gin (wow!).
This post is as much about our lunch at Amen, the new hip Brussels restaurant, as it is about our love of champagne. Yes, the bubbly festive seazon is officially open and in the words of Marlene Dietrich, drinking champagne gives you the impression that every day is Sunday. How can you argue with that?
Hello December! With the game season in full swing and as it is getting a bit colder we decided it is time to open ‘our’ game restaurant season. Of course the next question immediately is: where to go? Usually we head for a long weekend to Durbuy but this year we decided to give Brussels a try. Enter Au Repos des Chasseurs.
Did you hear of the Vini, Birre, Ribelli festival? It all kicks off this weekend. And if the 1st edition is anything to go by, then this year’s edition – which incidentally is hosted in a much larger venue, the Garage Citroen by Yser metro station – will be great.
When you get invited for a lunch at Les Eleveurs, eating food prepared and paired with Aligote wines by Andy de Brouwer, would you: a) say yes immediately, because you love food, are intrigued by Les Eleveurs (although … gasp! … it is not in Brussels) and Bourgogne wines are your favourite? b) decline, because you are on a pre-Christmas diet?
As much a Brussels institution as they come. I was introduced to A La Mort Subite in the first week of my arrival in Brussels (eons ago) and have loved this place ever since. And what is not to love about Belgian #beer and food?
Every time I promise to be more ‘blog’ organized, something comes up. Either at home (friends visiting), either at work (trips abroad) or … we give in to cozy long November evenings watching Netflix. But … we are back with a restaurant review … and not any restaurant. Enter La Paix.
